A burst water main has closed a road in Mitcham and diverted eight London bus routes in the chaos. Eastfield Road has been closed on the northbound side between Tamworth Lane / Grove Road roundabout to Rialto Road due to the incident.

The burst pipe is just outside Mitcham Eastfields National Rail station and first started becoming a problem at about 2am this morning (Wednesday, June 5) when the road was closed. Eight London bus services have been diverted due to the pipe which has closed the road. These are the 127, 152, 201, 264, 270, 280, 355 and S1.




Thames Water and the London Fire Brigade have been contacted for a statement.

How is traffic holding up?

Traffic is holding up well according to Google Maps traffic data. Traffic analyst service reports no queues or congestion in the area however it does say that eight bus services have been diverted because of the incident. These are the 127, 152, 201, 264, 270, 280, 355 and S1.

The water main burst in Mitcham, just outside Mitcham Eastfields National Rail station. It has meant Eastfields Road has had to be closed between Tamworth Lane / Grove Road roundabout and Rialto Road.
